. Running is really quite simple for me , to run long I have to run long and to run fast I have to run fast and to run long and fast I have to run long and fast and to run really long I have to learn to run slow and eat like a horse

Thursday Heart
7K Heart Run logged this evening on my meal break. Noticed the resting HR up about 5bpm this week. Missed a weeks worth of running and haven't done any Heart Runs in a couple of weeks it will be interesting to see how long it takes to come back down! Weighed in tonight .... 178 lbs thats the high end of my normal weight!

Mont Tremblant
I was off on a Ski Vacation in Mont Tremblant last week so there was not time to run however I did plan a day of Snowshoeing on the little Mountain so I did this .....click on this link to relive the run.
The weather was terrible but I was determined to summit. It was warm but raining heavily.... wore only my Shell over a Thermal Shirt with Tights under my water proof Pants. Going up took about 1h15m down was about 30m. Wanted to go further but as I went up in altitude the temps dropped and the winds picked up. With a half K to go to the summit I decided to turn around and head back logging a 9.3 km "Run" with a 526 meter elevation gain!
Garmin data ...looking at he cadence and splits you can tell the difference between up and down.

Stride Inside - 6 Hour Track Run
Nothing quiet like logging you first Ultra of the new year on Jan 6! Had a great day I was looking for a consistent run and looking at my splits that was more or less what I did. Ran the first lap in 1min37sec walked a lap or two every 10K and ran the last lap in 1min26sec...no death march! Did 500ml of water, one S Cap and a bug swig of Maple Syrup ....nothing else! The fueling was fantastic ...HR climbed through the event , first 10K 120's , 2nd 10K 130's then 30K thorugh 50Ks more or less in the 140's not letting it climb into the 150's.
You can really see my race plan in my HR....
Finished 18 out of 36 folks , 15th out of 21 men logging just shy of 51km.

December 2017 + Year End
December 2017 - 238 km
YTD - 2,939.6 km
21 Runs , 3 long ones and no races in December...
Track 3 X 107 km
Treadmill 12 X 100 km
Trail 1 X 5.2 km
Trail Snow Shoe 5 X 25.8 km
Rest 9 X
I was planning on one more track run 30K ish the last week of December but it didnt happen but I am super happy to have logged the Snowshoe runs in place of it.... probably did me more good!
Looking back at 2017 .....
Mixed it up a little in 2017 super enjoyed Endur and the Tobermory events doing both in 2018! Bad Thing was super tough again ... need to work on that one again this is my new Creemore!!!!! 2018 will be more or less the same as 2017 chasing at least a half dozen Outrace 50kers and a few others. My do one 50 miler the North Face Blue and possibly the 24 hour Dam Hill one again. The 2018 calendar is coming together nicely with my first Ultra next weekend the " Stride Inside"....bring it on!

Last two days of 2017
It seems rather fitting with all the cold and snowy weather that I ended 2017 on Snowshoes.
5.9Ks logged on the 30th click to relive.
5.8Ks logged on the 31st click to " Relive"
Posted the splits just because they are ridiculously slow ...yes I was actually running!
I was super happy with both runs they were a great workout and an awesome opportunity to mess around with various combos of cold weather gear.
The new Marino Wool Black MEC Socks rocked ...even at -15C no cold feet at all , not even a little bit. The heavier Grey Marino Socks didn't fare as well ... go figure. The new "Cycling Pants " rocked however they are not breathable at all and I had sweat build up in them ...OK for shorter outings but it could become problematic on a longer run.
