Mid 1

 3K walk on my meal break...still recovering from Saturdays 50K.   

N89 The Great Mansfield 50K Tail Race - Saturday May 30, 2026

  Did the Mansfield race again this year.  Raj and Patrick joined me for another crack at it.   Great weather ,  fantastic course and good company summed up the day.  We we slow by design!   An hour in we had on covered 5K averaging a 12:00 pace... yes we were actually running albeit a little soo slow.    The half way cutoff was at 13:00 ,  5 hours after the race start.  At the pace we were going we were in danger of getting pulled off course.  Between 5 and 12 K we pulled some 8:00 Ks putting enough time in the bank.  Our 25K time was around 4hrs23min.   The guys were moving well the whole 50K ,  it was slow but steady so no death march.    The second half was all about getting it done.  We wrapped somewhere around 9 hours definitely my slowest 50K ever but it didn't matter.  We hung out for an hour after the race having a cold beer and talking to Robin.   On the way home we stopped at the "Burger Bus" on Airport Road that the Honeywood turn off...best burger I had in some time.

Working Eves

 Back to work after a few weeks off.     Did a 3K walk on my meal break.  

Impromptu Trail Run

 Got a call on the early afternoon ,  Raj and Patrick were going to loop BV at 4pm.  Feeling tired I was on the fence however after I thought about it why not!  

Did a sub 4 hour 21.X again...felt super solid.  I was 10 degrees warmer  and quite humid compared the previous 4 laps of BV.  Tool some S Caps and went through 2L of water compared to the 1.25L recently. 

Not going to do much the rest of the week with the N89 50K on Saturday .... feeling ready!

The Weekend and Monday

Saturday I still was feeling Thursdays trail so I logged 5K walk on my meal break. 

Sunday,  felt recovered but just didnt feel like running so I logged another 5K walk.

Monday got me running, 4K@7:30 pace the 0.5K @6:00 pace then a cool down logging a 5K total.

Monday Trail

 4.8K on the backyard trail followed by an awesome hammock session.  There is no better acoustics then in a cedar forest.  Listened to the Dandy Warhols "Pin Ups" album...amazing covered.  Best one was the old Clash Tune " Go To Hell" from 1982 ....a B side song but wow powerful and the way the Dendy's did it ...most amazing!

Mids Again!

 Mid1 and Mid 2 ,  5K...first 4K@7:30 pace then 0.5K at 6:00 pace before gearing down finishing at 5K.  Goal is to get the 5K runs back to a 6:00 pace over the next couple of months....doable!   

Outrace Spring Warm Up - April 18 - Duffern Forest

 Just what I needed!  











Ran with Raj,  Patrick and Carson.  It was wet ,  quite wet and a little coolish but we did it.   I really enjoyed being out on the trails.  It was great seeing old friends ,  the pizza and beer afterwards were the icing on the cake.  

Felt the run over the weekend.  Tired muscles followed by a wee bit of DOMS the next day!

Hart Work

 4K @ 7:30 pace ,  0.5 K @ 6:00 pace followed by 0.3K @ 12:00 pace.   its time to pick up the pace.   My goal is 6:00 pace.

 5K logged on my  meal break ...mostly a 7:30 pace.   Threw in a 0.5K @ 6:00 pace ... sure felt fast .   Need to do more of that sorts of thing.

Taking the Garmin for a ride!

 4.5 trail Ks logged looping Hoggs BV.   Skied at Blue from 08:00 to 16:00 then hit the trail on my way home.  This was my first trail run of the season.

 Back from the North and back in the office.  Logged  a  5K @ 7:30 pace on the Friday and Monday and again today,  Tuesday.

 4 and 5 were a blowout with 3K walks each night.  Feeling guilty I jumped on the treadmill early tonight and logged 12K,   10K @ 7:30 pace followed by a 2 K walk.

Back at it again!

 Finally feeling better once again,  still spitting and sputtering a bit but I am running again.   Logged 6K today ,  first 5K were 8 and 2 then I walked a K at the end.   Tomorrow its another 5K 9 and 1 then Monday constant  run again!

2025 Summary

 2025 was not the best running year.   Work trips and Ski trips took away many opportunities to run.   Biggest disappointment was no Endur Ultimate.   Without Endur there wasn't as much necessity to build volume.    Still managed a 50K ,  47K ,  a Marathon and a couple of halves.    Total Ks were down,  way down but it really didn't make  that much of a difference  with what I had planned for the year.

Mid 2,3,4,5 and 6

 What a blowout this week has been ...got sick again!!!!!!   Skipped the Gym mid 2,3,4 and 5.  Finally feeling a bit better on Mid 6 and logged a 5K walk.   Super frustrated this was the week for me to get back to my regular 5K runs!

Back at it after yet another vacation.

Started the new year with a couple of weeks Skiing in the EU...no runs.  

This week I am back to work ,  logged 3K walks Monday and Tuesday and logged a 5K @ 7:30 pace this eve.   I had picked up a bug that settled in my chest ,  almost over it still sputtering a bit but otherwise A OK. Time to get back to running...and more ski trips!
