Friday Trail
Just a little backyard trail run with Dax before it got too warm logging 5 laps good for 4.8
Aug 13 after work
Ran with Joe and Carson after work. Both had never logged any more then a 12k or 10K run so it was all new territory. Joe is preparing run a 1/3 in Sept so this was all about getting the mental on! Plan was a 15K on the Hanover trail, out and back until we hit the goal. It was pretty hot we started at the Dam then headed South. The rail trail was really nice , lots of shade and surprisingly quiet and scenic. The first out and back was about 7K, stopped at the cars and grabbed some water then did the same out and back again. It was fun running with these guys.
Was aiming for a 7:30 pace ...

Falling Water Trail Run - August 9, 2025 - Beaver Valley, Ontario
That was hot , really hot but it was a great day none the less logging 42 km running Beaver Valley.
Patrick ran with me , we stuck together for the entire run. It was 22C when the run started at 9am. The entire run was about taking it easy , manage the hydration and electrolytes and avoid heat stroke! The run took a super long time it was all about the heat + elevation. After leaving Beaver Valley Ski club we headed out on the crossover trail heading up , up , up the escarpment on the East side of the valley. We headed past the Eugenia Hydro station then made our way to Grahams Hill , the first aide station. Aid stations were further apart then usual due to the topography and road access, on average at least 8K between. I was consuming 1,000 ml of water between aid stations and 500 ml when we were there. Figured I consumed at least 7 liters over the 9 hours on the course. Took 10 S caps and 3 gels along the way. Aid station stops were potatoes chips , pickles and PB and sandwiches, The aide stations were fun , manned by some great folks. After the Grahams aid stop we headed towards Hogg Falls then back up the East escarpment. A few Ks in just before the climb to Eugenia I rolled my left ankle .... ouch! Patrick ask of I wanted to stop but I said no " just have to run it off" . By the time we arrived at Eugenia I had forgotten about the ankle. Next up was Grahams Hill again 1.5K down followed by 1.5K up...used very short steps, almost heel to toe and increased the stride climbing the hill rather slowly arriving at the top feeling fresh. Before we knew it we we crossed over the road at Bowles Hill arriving at the Beaver Valley Ski Club. There was a couple of big climbs followed by a really nice long almost flat and somewhat exposed trail. This way probably the peak of heating a combination of working the big leg muscles climbing the ski hills and sun exposure plus warmest time of the day 5pm. Leaving the Ski club you are around the 35K mark with a little heart breaking 7K out and back that seems to go on forever. The aid station 3K from the finish has a few nasty little climbs. What was advertised as 3K downhill finish had some uphills WTF! I did the 1/2 hear at the tail end of covid I remember this out and back ...not detail jus that it wasn't fun LOL. Brought it home in 9 hours 11 minutes more or less what I was expecting on such a tough , hot day!
