Dark Run

10k on looping on my trail this eve.  Ran into the dark without a light.  Last loop I couldn't see my feet on the ground and I could see the Big Dipper but I was running light free....it was very cool and exilerating .

Out and Back

10K out and back on the 2nd
 with Grant last evening.   It was dark and warm but really nice summer running!  New Garmin worked very good...still getting use to it but it sure is nice to have the data again.

Late Trail

7.5 k looping my trail last night.  Didin't bring enough lighting and it was getting too dark to run so I cut it a little short of my planned 10Ker.   First time out with the Garmin 210 ...OK but the 305 is better.

"Cure All"

One of the old ouches has crept up ,  top of right quad ...pain especially after sitting for a bit.   After walking it off I jumped on the treadmill and slowly ramped up to my 5:30 pace logging 5K .... now all is well!

Two Run Tuesday

Been allot of 2 run days lately .. all about fitting it in.

Summer returned today pushing 30C and real humid.  Decided to hit the trail for a 5K Run.    Just got on the trail and noticed what I thought was a rock covered with Brown Moss but the rock turned out to be a Deer taking shelter from the heat in the thick cedars.  I figured that out when the "rock" ran away.   I really enjoyed the heat today and would have looped for a few hours but unfortunately I had to go to work.  

2nd Run was the usual 5K@5:30 pace today at lunch.


Monday Trail

Lovely warm eve...logged a little 5 K on my trail.   Had a few beers in the hammock under the patio lanterns watching the stars appear.  It was heavenly .

You never know!

Logged another loop of Durham yesterday.  The "Upper Dam" was closed so I took a slightly different route so I logged somewhere between 24 and 25 K ...new Garmin should arrive tomorrow!   It was pretty humid.  Putting my shoes on I broke a sweat so I had any idea its was going to be one of those runs.  Last  8K I had a burning muscle pain in my legs ...nothing serious just hey whats that ?????   Did 2 S caps at 8k another 2 at 16 K and did a couple of bottles of water.

Weighed in at 177 lbs today pretty much the same as always.  I probably never change that much because I always run around 300k / month and have done that for a number fo years now.

Dreadmill Dreadmill Dreadmill

5K@5:30 pace at lunch again today.  Did I mention how much I don't enjoy the treadmill?

Two Run Monday

Run 1 lunch , lunch of course lunch.... logged yet another 5Ker at a mostly 5:30 pace.   Love hate thing with the treadmill.   If its going to hurt I am going to feel it on the dreadmill.   Left Knee tweaked a bit ,  a no big deal thing but blame it on the dreadmill.

Run 2   ... 12 laps for a total of 10K on the trail.   Averaged 1 Beer for every 2K in the Hammock when I was done and yes it made me smile!

Ditto Ditto

 Ditto Friday ... skipped Saturday altogether and decided to do another longish road one late Sunday afternoon.   Retraced Fridays route logging 24.3km in around 2.5 hours.   I was totally into the run almost from the get go.   Mind wondered right from the start and I felt no pressure to finish just enjoying getting lost in my head.    With a 12 hour hard surface run coming up I tried  my Brooks Cascadias vs the Mizuno Elixers that I wore on Friday.     Near the end of Fridays Run my feet were starting to get a bit sore and the pain I get in my right foot was starting to bother me a bit.  The Cascadias are a soft shoe so there wasn't the same foot pain but the toes box is much bigger and I was starting to get some rubs here and there ... no big deal at 24.3k however by 100K that would be allot different.     I wouldn't mind trying a different show to eliminate the Rub and Pain... thinking Hooka perhaps???

Ditto June 28

 With a 12 hour road race looming I changed my focus a wee bit to running constant and running on a hard surface.   Repeated my run that I did June 28 heading south on the 2nd,  through the conservation area then head back after looping downtown Durham.   Logged 24.3 K in about 2.5 hours.   I had worked all day yesterday ,  logged 5K at lunch and almost as soon as I came home I laced up and headed out the door logging this long one.   The weather was just to darn perfect not to Run and besides its good too get the long one out of the way before the weekend.    The route is also a good one to gauge where I am at.  Sometimes the Hills coming back on the 2nd are grueling but yesterday I barely noticed them ,  100% solid all the way and more or less non-stop too...mission accomplished.

Another slow ass run!

Lunch again ,   5k at a mostly 5:30 pace.   Forgot how it feels to run faster ,  did a K at a 5:00 pace and a few hundred meters at a 4:30 pace.   I like the rhythm when you go fast.  

Tired Trail

7pm last night and I was trying to stay awake.  After two early mornings ,  3:30 am and two long 10 hour days I was whooped.   Couldn't go to bed at 7  pm I would be up at 3am.  What to do ,  what to do hows about a tiny trail.  Headed out and did a little 40 min or 5Ker then came home had a Beer and went to Bed.

Lunch Run

5K the usual way today on my meal break

Those Dam Dear Flies!

Ok enough is enough with theses dam dear flies.   Last day in London yesterday and was able to get an hour in the eve to go for a run.   Next up on the race calendar is the 12 hour Dam Hill Run in mid September so its going to be a mix of roads and trails between now and then.  Did an out and back heading North on the 2nd.   Deer Flies like to hang out on gravel roads.  Heading North the wind was at my back and there was a constant could of them buzzing me for the first 5K.  Turning around I was going against the breeze and that was in my face... this seemed to help.   Next time I need to get a little road in its going to be South on a tar and chip road!!!!

Too nice not to run!

Got home a little after 8pm yesterday after another day in London.    Took care of all the things I needed to do then headed out back to my trail for a little night run.    Full Moon was arising ,  20+c temps , little breeze and no one told the Mosquitos what I was up too.   Tunes were cranked and the patio lanterns were illuminated the only thing left to do was run.   5k was logged then 3 Beers with some Hammock time afterwards.  Life is very very very good!

Yesterday

10.2k road run late yesterday afternoon.   Felt lousy but the run brought me around.  Recovered with a Beer and 30 min of late eve Sun floating around the pool.

Equal Trail

So I am floating around the pool at 5:30pm last night after work about to crack my second Beer then I think wait.... why don't  I put that Beer in a cooler ,  add two more Beers then head back to my loop for 9 laps.    After treadmill run after treadmill run after treadmill run and working 12s on the weekend I need some trail and hammock time!!!   Successfully logged 7.5K happily looping away.
