Last run of the decade!

 Seems fitting that the last run of the year and decade was on the treadmill at work.   The gym has been a god send I view every work day as a fitness opportunity.   I have logged thousands and thousands and thousands of Ks at work.   So its one more 5 km run logged on my meal break this New Years Eve.  Lots of reflection looking back 10 years facing 2010.    I was blogging it all back then just like I do now.  In 2010's goals were to qualify for Boston so I could run it to mark my 50th Birthday in 2011 and build up my base to do my first 100 miler.   I made it to Boston in April 2011 and then in May 2011 I logged my first 100 miler!   Since then I always thought that turning 60 in 2021 I would run Boston again.   I dont really feel that way any longer ,  perhaps I may do it again perhaps I will not.  My #1 goal in the next decade is preservation and to keep on doing what I have been doing...I think I am well on  my way to doing just that!

Its OK...I think!

5 km on my meal break this evening.   Was a wee bit worried about the right knee after a nasty fall skiing Saturday .... slightly stiff but probably to long term affect!    6 Hour Stride Inside this Saturday.

Going long Saturday

Logged another 36 km run at the Y Saturday.  Hr last time hung in the high 120s past 15 km but this time it was a different story pushing into the 130s only a few K into the run.   Suspect it was being sick through the week.   It was no big deal but the run was just plain harder but I hung in there logging the Ks as planned albeit a wee bit slower.   Thats a wrap on the long ones until I do the Stride Inside 6 hour in two weeks.

Have been laying low fighting off a bug this week.  Did my first run of the work week logging 5 km on the treadmill on my meal break.

Weekend Running

Had a 4 day weekend ,  ran more or less all my Ks at one time! 

On Friday Dec 13th  I logged 36 km on the tack at the Owen Sound Y.   HR was in the high 120s through 15 km the slowly climbed to the high 140s closing in on 25 km.   At the 25 km mark I geared it down from a 6:00 pace to around a 7:30 pace and the HR dropped into the 130s.    The run was done the usual way 0.5 L or water and 1 S Cap every 10 km,  no calories. 

On Sunday Dec 15th  I logged 4 km on the backyard trail.  Was going to do Snowshoes but the Hoka Stinson ATR 5's wouldn't fit into the bindings so I decided to stick to these shoes vs changing into my Adidas Gortex.    There wasn't quite enough snow to snowshoe but there was a little too much for running...no big deal I was going short that day.

Two long runs done ,  31.1 km "The Beav" and a 30 km Y track run  otherwise just a bunch of shorter runs keeping " run ready ".    First Ultra of 202 is coming up Jan 4,  Stride Inside.    Aiming for at least three maybe four  30 - 40 km Y runs in December.

Y Tuesday

32 km on the track at the Y Tuesday.  Did a solid sub 6:00 pace until 25 k mark then geared it down when the Glycogen ran out.   It was a really good ,  really solid , really enjoyable run.   Lookign forward to doing it again next week.

Finished off my last 2 nights this week with 10 km runs ,  both were enjoyable...strange for being on nights.
